New House - Work in Progress, Part II

Hi there! Sorry I haven't been around the past couple of weeks. I was feeling poorly one week, and just didn't have the mental energy to deal with SL much, then things got busy in RL. But I'm back! And I have updates! (No credits yet, but updates.)

When we left off, I only had the big furnishings out for the bottom floor. It's now mostly done, and I've made a few changes.

First, the office/library. I changed out the bookcases. The ones from Bazar were cute, but they just didn't seem to fit the "vibe" of the house that well. So I found these from Kraftwork/Pitaya, and just loved them. Got the books that go with them too, because I needed more to fill up the extra shelves. And I loved the built in rail/ladder. I did keep the Bazar desk, just made it white instead of the dark brown. I think having the room with the white blends with the rest of the house better.

In the living room, I swapped out the fireplace. The one that came with the house was...OK, but I wanted something a little grander and more detailed. I found this one from Fancy Decor in my inventory, and it worked perfectly. I also removed one of the chairs, and put a console table by the window, to open things up a bit. With the extra chair, it just looked too tightly packed.

The dining area didn't change much. I mainly just added decor here.

And the kitchen didn't change a lot either, except for decor. (See the froggy jars? They're perfect in here!) I do realize that I forgot to put the lights on in these pictures, so they're a bit dark. Sorry!

Here is the first look at the second floor landing. I had a fit trying to figure out what to put on that little ledge under the window, then realized it would be the perfect place for all my teeny plants. I also added the clock from Finca that I featured in one of my weekend haul posts a few weeks ago.

And here is the landing proper. Got my cat's tree in the corner, and a console table with some knick-knacks, along with the Tiffany lamp I got from a weekend haul a couple of weeks ago as well! (See, I do use the stuff I buy!)

I FINALLY found a bathroom set that I like at Hive...it's their Classic Bath collection. I haven't done much in here but add a light fixture and few rugs...more to come here later.

And here's the bedroom! It's so...purple! I love the color...purple is my favorite. I'm not completely done in here, hence the prim block on the floor to rez things on, but it's coming along nicely!

And the other side of the room, with a little sitting area. I also added some plants out on the balcony, and rocking chair with a beautiful view. I still need to work on the outdoors some, so more on that later.

And lastly, the closet. Is it weird to put the laundry in here as well? Maybe, but it sure is convenient! In my RL house, we had hoped to get the option of putting a door between the closet and the dressing room, but it didn't work out. This room needs more too...rugs and decor mainly, and that will come once everything else is done.

That's it for this post! Heavy on photos, light on credits, but I promise those will come later once we go through everything in more detail.

Thanks for coming along with me today...and I'll hopefully see you again next week!

New House - Work in Progress.

As I mentioned last week, I bought this new house from ROOST. It's the Oak Well House, and this is what it looked like out of the box.

I mentioned that I was considering enclosing the porch, and I did just that as you can see below. As I've done with prior builds, I rezzed a second copy of the house and unlinked it. Then I used the bits and pieces that I could to close it in, along with a couple of other added prims to redo the floor and ceiling, and the outside wall.

I also tinted the shingles on the outside a little darker, and changed the texture on the bathroom and closet windows to more of a privacy glass. Lastly, I added a foundation to the house so it would work with the slightly uneven surface of my parcel, and added some entry steps to the front and back.

This is the inside of the enclosed porch. I like how it came out! I removed the interior doors to make a pass through archway, and turned it into a spacious library/office. Obviously, it's not done yet...I'm just trying to get the big items down, and will work on finishing decor later.

Next is the living and dining areas. I'm using the Muniick living room set from the sales last weekend, as promised! I also got a new dining set from Bazaar, which I'm using with a china cabinet from Your Dreams. I also used some panels from Fancy Decor to enclose the chimney flue/stack. As you might have noticed, I'm keeping the color palette very soft.

Lastly is the kitchen area. I'm using the Modern Farmhouse Kitchen from Hive. It fits the Craftsman style of the house really well, and it's simple and clean, which I like.

I only picked up a couple of things from the sales this weekend. I was in a grumpy mood, and really not into shopping yesterday, so I'm not going to do a haul post this week.

As I make further progress, I'll post more pics! I still have the bathroom and bedroom to work out, and the bathroom is causing me some strife...I can't find anything I like to put in it. But I'll figure it out...I always do!
